What is your preferred medium, and what factors most influenced you in that direction?

Ceramic art can be hand-held or monumental, flat tiles, three-dimensional sculptures, I enjoy working with textures, and creating in large scale, on the theme of connection.

What do you find most rewarding about being an artist?

Long term permanence, creating sustainable beauty.

What advice would you give to young, aspiring artists?

Have no ego, say yes to "would you create this for us?" Aim to please your client. Be authentic.

Why does the work of Art Saint Louis matter?

Without Art Saint Louis, our artist community would not have a "mother hen"! We need the support of a showing gallery space, way to network with other artists in a non-competitive manner, an image registry library to be matched with clients, stimulating dialogue with jurors and artist's talk. It is a natural way to be with other artists after graduate school.

Why should any community support visual art?

Art is dialogue, not to be put into the closet, our mind needs the engagement. The community connects with empathy. As art lovers support the artists, the dance begins.
