Art Saint Louis is dedicated to enriching lives through the creative activity of our region’s contemporary visual artists. Through exhibition, education, and exchange, we connect and inspire our community, and multiply the economic and cultural vitality of our region.
For over 25 years, we've worked to cultivate an appreciation for the role that visual art and artists play in our community. We believe that ART has the capacity to relay something of transcendent meaning to people from all walks of life; that through aesthetic exploration and illumination of the human experience, ARTISTS play an important role in provoking the social and spiritual consciousness of our community; and that, by nurturing the progressive development of art, OUR COMMUNITY is more apt to appreciate subtlety, respect individuality and celebrate diversity.
We fulfill our mission by creating and presenting original exhibitions, educational programming and support services aimed at cultivating and celebrating the art of our region. Our efforts connect and benefit artists and the audiences their work impacts by helping artists achieve professional success while deepening our community’s understanding and enjoyment of contemporary visual art.
Art Saint Louis presents exhibits year-round in our 5,000 square-foot gallery on Washington Avenue in the heart of downtown St. Louis. Every exhibition in our gallery is free and open to the public. Art Saint Louis Juried Exhibitions are open to artists aged 21 and older residing within a 200-mile radius of St. Louis. In addition to our St. Louis regional exhibitions, we present a biennial Fiber Focus exhibition open to artists in nine Midwest regional states: Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma & Tennessee.
Additionally, Art Saint Louis produces a wide variety of educational events, curates off-site exhibitions to feature art in various locations around the city, maintains an Image Registry of member artists' works, manages Art Leasing and Purchasing programs, and offers artist portfolio reviews and counseling. Through all our efforts we are proud to join in establishing a national identity for St. Louis as a center for the creation and appreciation of fine art.
Art Saint Louis is a registered not-for-profit organization with the State of Missouri and has Federal 501(c)(3) status.
Our Values
We value and pursue excellence in all our programs and exhibitions, from our selection of program partners, jurors and curators, to our communications and relationships with civic leaders, private donors, grant makers and corporate sponsors.
Driven by a conviction that the relevance and impact of art goes far beyond the circle of those who create it, we are passionately committed to an ongoing, art-inspired dialogue with our community, developing and engaging new audiences and fostering connections between and among artists and audiences for their mutual benefit.
Through dynamic exhibitions, outreach programs and applications delivering the art of our region to an ever-widening audience, our modus operandi is inspired by the ever-evolving work of our artists that consistently refines and defies expectations.
In the panoply of arts organizations at work in the St. Louis area, including (especially) institutions with resonant interests in visual art, such as the St. Louis Artists' Guild and the Foundry Art Centre, we recognize and enthusiastically pursue opportunities for synergistic collaboration to cross-fertilize and multiply the intellectual and cultural capital of our region.
